The Tenerife City Council promotes collaboration in Cybersecurity

The Tenerife Island Council, in collaboration with the National Cryptology Center, the Canary Islands Government, and the Canary Islands Federation of Municipalities, held a meeting on Thursday at the TEA that brought together representatives from local and state administrations to share strategies, experiences, and advances in the protection of digital public services.

The event was attended by the Director General of Digital Transformation of Public Services of the Government of the Canary Islands, Guadalupe González Taño, along with other prominent public figures.

The Minister of the Presidency of the Tenerife Island Council, José Miguel Ruano León, stressed that “cybersecurity has become an essential pillar (...) we are not just talking about technology, but about protecting rights and strengthening citizens' trust in their institutions.”

Ruano insisted that the Canary Islands are moving towards a future with an “efficient and secure digital governance model.” He also highlighted the importance of training and inter-administrative coordination.

During the event, National Security Scheme (ENS) certifications were awarded to eleven municipalities on the island, recognizing the efforts of local corporations to strengthen the system and procedures.

The 4th Conference on Cybersecurity in Local Government reaffirms the Cabildo's commitment to consolidating a secure, coordinated, and sustainable public digital infrastructure.

This line of work has led to the creation of the Cybersecurity Operations Center (SOC Tenerife), the promotion of ENS certifications, and the strengthening of cooperation with the National Cryptology Center and FEC.
